Fixing Warped Pony Legs
It's always sad to come across a beautiful Milky Way or Lickety Split who is unable to stand up correctly due to warped legs. Luckily, this is a very fixable problem!
There are certain ponies that are more prone to this warped leg syndrome. Unicorns with one foot up (Milky Way, Mimic, etc.), the Posey pose, another unicorn pose with one front leg up (Galaxy, Fizzy, etc.) plus a few others. These ponies seem to be especially prone to being squished in such a manner that their legs actually become stuck in a way they it is difficult to get them to stand correctly on their own.
Here's a simple fix
Materials Needed
- Wooden Dowel Rod
- Hedgers or strong scissors
- Pot of boiling water
- tub of ice cold water
- rubber bands to tie pony hair back
- Tongs
Basically the goal of this process is to soften the pony's plastic so that it is somewhat moldable once again. Then we will harden the pony's plastic into the correct standing position. To do this cut off a bit of wooden dowel rod with your clipping shearers or hedgers. These things are actually pretty hard to cut so if you have a man around who knows how to use a saw, you can cut them that way as well. Place the dowel rod between your pony's feet to get them back in their correct placement.
Pony Soup
Next we're going to soften the pony's plastic by dipping her in a pot of boiling water. Make sure to use tongs to hold onto the pony while soaking. I usually tie the pony's hair back to keep it from getting wet. This isn't necessary but you can do it if you wish. Leave the pony in the boiling water for about 5 minutes. When her plastic is soft and squishy, transfer her immediately to a bowl of ice cold water, making sure her legs are completely submerged. Leave her in the ice water bath for another 5-10 minutes, leaving the wooden dowel rod positioned between her legs.
Almost Done!
Once you remove the pony from her icy bath, let her stand at room temperature until she dries and warms up a bit. Don't remove the wooden dowel rod yet! Only remove the dowel rod once she's completely dry and back to room temperature. After removing it you should see a vast improvement in her posture. You can repeat this process if necessary but usually pony's legs are nearly perfect again after doing this process.
